Stamford Chimpanzee Victim to Receive Face
Two years ago, Charla Nash was mutilated by a 200 pound chimpanzee. Last month the Stamford woman found out she was eligible for face and hand transplant surgery, the Associated Press reports.
After a series of tests and evaluations were conducted, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston decided Nash would be a good candidate for the surgery. The hospital is now working with the New England Organ Bank to find donors that match Nash’s tissue requirements, the report says.
Earlier this month the hospital performed the first full face transplant on a construction
