William Kies, the director of education at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, began setting up taps on maple trees on the museum's property to collect sap to turn into syrup, last week. The collecting season usually starts around Valentine's Day and will run for 4 to 6 weeks, Kies said.
In addition to a number of education programs that will be held about tree tapping, and making syrup the nature center will also hold its First County Bank Maple Sugar Festival Weekend in March.
