STAMFORD, Conn. — Need plans for the weekend? Below is a list of events in the Stamford area that you may want to check out.
Friday, Feb. 10
▪ 7 p.m.: Two city rivals take to the hardwood Friday night when the Westhill High School boys basketball team takes on Trinity Catholic High School. Both squads are looking to improve their playoff chances. The game will be played at Trinity Catholic, 926 Newfield Ave.
▪ 7 p.m.: Women can get in touch with their spiritual side at Temple Sinai’s first-ever “Shul-In and Shabbat Program.” The overnight event will take place at the temple, 458 Lakeside Drive, and is $25. To RSVP, send an email to Shelly Sodaro.
▪ 7 p.m.: Get your laughs in and help Stamford Youth Hockey develop an exchange program with Sweden at Hypno Lorenzo’s Comedy Show. Tickets for the fundraiser are $50. It will be held at Hibernian Hall, 186 Greyrock Road.
Saturday, Feb. 11
▪ 2 p.m.: Bring your favorite teddy along to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center’s Teddy Bear Tea Party. The kids event is $25 per person for members and $35 per person for nonmembers. It will be held at the nature center, 39 Scofieldtown Road.
▪ 5:30 p.m.: Celebrate St. Valentine’s Day early with the vocal stylings of tenor Juan Carlos Franco and soprano Jane Shivick at “Romance of the Opera.” The concert will take place at Church of Christ the Healer, 20 Brookdale Road. Donations of $15 per person or $25 per couple in advance or $20 per person at the door are requested.
▪ 6 p.m.: Stamford Public School’s Aspiring Leadership Through Action program will share its Latin culture during “The Dance for Love and Friendship.” The free dancing, music and food event will be at the Yerwood Center, 90 Fairfield Ave.
▪ 8 p.m.: The nine-time Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet will be in Stamford on Saturday night at the Palace Theatre, 61 Atlantic St. Ticket prices range from $22 to $73.
Sunday, Feb. 12
▪ 9:30 a.m.: Grab your running shoes and support a Stamford police officer who recently underwent a heart transplant with his medical costs at the 5K Walk/Run to Benefit Officer Lou Cavalcante. Preregistration is $18 and post-registration is $25, and applications can be found online. The event will start at the Stamford Police Headquarters, 805 Bedford St.
▪ 12:30 p.m.: Come hear Jack Fowler, publisher of National Review magazine, at the Republican Town Committee’s Lincoln Day Brunch. Tickets are $75.
