STAMFORD, Conn. — Nicolena Vetrane, 98, a resident of Stamford for over 90 years, died at Stamford Hospital on Jan. 30. She was born in Settefrati, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1919.
She worked for several manufacturing plants, including Otis Elevators, Pitney Bowes, Yale and Town and Reflectone. She was also a 50-year honorary member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.
Vetrane is survived by her son, David Vetrane and his wife, Marilyn; sisters Nancy Spezzano, Emma Muskus and Marie DeRubis; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband David Vetrane; daughter Patricia Vetrane; brothers Nunzie DePreta and Anthony DePreta; sisters Angelina Piccaillo and JoAnn Piro; and a grandson.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be held Wednesday at Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
