STAMFORD, Conn. — Ralph DeAngelis, 90, a lifelong resident of the Springdale neighborhood in Stamford, died at home Jan. 4.

The veteran of World War II worked as a mason contractor and builder. In the 1960s, he took over his father’s business, Michael DeAngelis & Sons.

In his free time, DeAngelis enjoyed collecting and restoring antique cars, receiving national recognition for it. He was a member of several automobile clubs, including the Horseless Carriage Club of America, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Gateway Club.

DeAngelis is survived by his daughters Carol Bussey and Patricia Brown and husband Thomas; son Michael DeAngelis; sister Patricia Mucci; and eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives Josephine LaMonica DeAngelis and Josephine Servidio DiAngelo DeAngelis; brother Nicolo DeAngelis; and sister Valverdina Lux.  

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Jan. 9, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial took place at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in DeAngelis’ memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Lacerenza Funeral Home.
