STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford residents will get their chance to voice their opinions Tuesday night about the requested demolition of the Main House on Sterling Farms Golf Course to the city’s planning board.
The building in question is where the Royal Green Restaurant is located, and the Stamford Golf Authority plans to build a new restaurant there with a large banquet facility, said an e-mail from the Historic Neighborhood Preservation Program. The building was first built in the 1850s or 1860s, a post on the organization’s website said.
The proposal for the demolition also calls for a lease extension and modification to the agreement between the city and authority. The authority has met with the Historic Neighborhood Preservation Program and the Newfield Neighborhood Association about the proposal, and will continue to work with both groups so they can all get what they want, minutes from a January meeting for the board said.
