STAMFORD, Conn. — Fifth-grader Megan Sheridan of Holy Spirit School in Stamford has received a 2012 St. Thomas Aquinas Award from Bishop William Lori of the Diocese of Bridgeport.
The award is given annually to diocesan parochial school students who show excellence in academics and strong Christian values, a Holy Spirit press release said. Megan was one of 36 students to receive the honor this year, a Fairfield County Catholic article said.
Bishop Lori and Dr. Margaret Dames, diocesan superintendent of schools and director of the Office of Education, gave each award recipient a medal and certificate at the annual “Breakfast of Champions” on Jan. 26.
Megan was accompanied by Patricia Torchen, principal of Holy Spirit School, Father Robert Hyl, the pastor of Holy Spirit Church, and her parents, Paul and Mary Sheridan.
