Kids have a ball every day at the Peak Performance Camps at Stamford High School. It could be a baseball, basketball a soccer ball or even a football. Every day, kids run, throw, kick and shoot at the camps. "I like pitching and batting,'' said Stamford's Nicole Savage, a 5½-year-old girl from Stamford who attended the camp last week. She waited her turn to take the field with six-year-old Brian Somody.
Peak Performance runs a variety of camps. Norwalk resident Sean Ireland directs an all-sports camp. Children ages 4-12 play wiffleball, soccer, floor hockey, tag games and basketball. There are also sports specific camps, such as baseball, flag football and basketball.
The camps are taught by physical education teachers. Half-day and full-day programs are available. Sessions are available through Aug. 13. "Not only do the kids learn, but they also have fun, and it's in a safe environment,'' says camp owner Mark Carmody, a Norwalk resident who also teaches physical education in Westport. "We want to give them an introduction to sports and lifelong fitness."
Peak Performance also conducts camps during the school year in Easton and Westport. Log on to the company's website for more information
