STAMFORD, Conn. – Westhill sophomore Claire Howlett finished sixth in the 3,200 in Saturday’s State Open Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
Howlett ran 11:21.38, an improvement by more than six seconds over her seeded time. Reid Watson of Glastonbury won the race in 10:52:52. Howlett tucked into sixth place early in the race and finished about six seconds clear of the next runner. She was also the first finisher among Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference schools.
The only other Westhill girl to compete was Nicole Ambrosecchio. The junior finished 14th in the 1,000.
