Stamford's Fairway To Host Thank You BBQ Saturday

Fairway Market is saying thank you to its customers this weekend by holding a barbeque in the store's parking lot.

Dozens of vendors will be there to give away drinks, deserts, salads, grilled hot dogs, sausages. and even coupons. The Fairway table will offer fresh mozzarella and bread dipped in olive oil.

In addition to the food, there will be raffles, t-shirts, hats, and other prizes as well.

The barbeque is free to attend and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

Nutritionist, Author To Visit Stamford Market

The Fairway Market will add to its variety Sunday when nutritionist and author Tanya Zuckerbrot visits to sign copies of her bestselling book "The F-Factor Diet."

“The F-Factor Diet” promotes healthy eating with more filling fiber foods to lose extra pounds, a statement from the publisher said. The diet will also boost energy and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, colon cancer and breast cancer, the statement says.

Stamford Fairway Cooks Up Impressive Demo

Simply delicious. That was Preston Bealle’s take on a three-course steak dinner at Fairway Market in Stamford Tuesday evening. The meal, the product of a cooking demonstration, consisted of Caesar salad, steak Diane and bananas Foster. Bealle said he was hooked from the beginning.

“The Caesar was yellow, the best Caesar I've ever had,” he said. “Made me realize that when you order that and it's white, they're just putting dressing on it. This was the real thing, with egg yolks and Tabasco. Could've eaten four servings.”

Stamford Market Gives Back to the Community

Stamford's Fairway Market kicks off a week-long campaign Sunday, the day before Valentine’s Day, to benefit one of the city’s oldest community agencies.

The store’s Share the Love fund-raiser will give a portion of its proceeds from Feb. 13-19 to St. Luke’s LifeWorks. A kick-off event will take place at the store Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Local and state officials are expected to attend, including Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes and state Rep. Carlo Leone, among others. The launch is free and open to the public.

Martha Stewart Tours Stamford's Fairway Market

Martha Stewart sampled Fairway Market olive oil at the Stamford grocery this morning, Feb 12, while making her way through the store. Fairway CEO Howie Glickberg looks on. Stewart, surrounded by a contingent of store security, took a brief tour of Fairway before taking a seat to sign copies of “Power Living.” The book of recipes and health tips was compiled by editors of Stewart’s Whole Living magazine. Martha Stewart to Tout Cookbook in Stamford

She’s known as the doyenne of domesticity, the goddess of home and garden. Martha Stewart will visit Stamford Saturday, Feb. 12, to kick off a day of health-centered talks and demonstrations at the recently opened Fairway Market on Canal Street.

Stewart will sign copies of the book “Power Foods,” to which she contributed the forward, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The book was written by editors of Stewart’s Whole Living magazine. It includes 150 recipes and focuses on what editors regard as the 38 healthiest ingredients throughout the world.

Food Market Opens With Fanfare

Looking over food selections at the new Fairway Market in Stamford Wednesday morning, Lauren Drysdale couldn't help but be impressed. But then, she knew what to expect.

"We used to live in New York and we used to shop in a Fairway Market there," said Drysdale, her two boys, ages 1 and 4, in tow. Now that she lives in Stamford, it's nice to know there's a Fairway in town. And even though she lives on the East side and would have to travel a bit, "it would be worth it," she said. Fairway, WWE Team up for Halloween Party

Before it even officially opens in Stamford, Fairway Market is demonstrating its commitment to the community. To do that, it's teaming with Stamford-based WWE to host a Halloween party for youngsters this Friday at the city's Boys & Girls Club.

Fairway Market, a grocery and specialty food store, will open in Stamford, on Nov. 3. The 85,000-square-foot store already is a major employer, having hired hundreds in the area in anticipation of next week's opening.
