Fourth-grader Sophia Scorziello was one of 86 Stamford students honored at the Ferguson Library on Sunday as part of the 26th Annual Literacy Competition. Sophia was joined by her teacher Sara Kane from Davenport Ridge Elementary School when she received honorable mention for her fiction story, “A Moment with Edison.”

Children in grades 3 to 12 who live in Stamford or attend school in Stamford were allowed to submit original works of fiction, nonfiction and poetry in the contest. The Friends of the Ferguson Library sponsored the competition.

Although the students received their awards Sunday, the winners were announced at the end of March. For a complete list of winners, follow this link.
