She was educated in Stamford's Catholic schools and at the Danbury Normal School (now Western Connecticut State University) and later taught in the Stamford Public Schools.

Daly is survived by three children, Margaret Parente Marino of Stamford, Kevin Daly of Newport Beach, Calif., and Rosemary Marcuss of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. [and the many pupils she influenced in her life.] She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene L. Daly, and her sister Anne M. Reardon.

Daly influenced many pupils in her career, which was shaped by helping children learn to read. In her memory, her family is asking people to dedicate extra time to reading to children.
