Darien's Sasha Fritts scored a goal and assisted on another as the Mid Fairfield Stars 14-and-under girls hockey team rolled to a 5-0 victory over Honeybaked of Michigan at the Tier I national tournament Friday in Rochester, Mich.

The victory sends the Stars into the quarterfinals as the No. 2 seed in the National Division. They will play the No. 3 seed from the American bracket, the New Jersey Colonials, in Saturday's quarterfinals. The semifinals are also Saturday, and the championship game is Sunday.

Catherine Crawley, Megan Wilmot, Sara McNamara and Katelyn Pantera also scored for the Stars. Norwalk's Annie Defrino and Emma Farrel combined on the shutout, as the Stars surrendered just seven shots on goal.

Fritts has three goals and three assists in the tournament. She is the fourth-leading scorer. McNamara has three goals and two assists.

The Mid Fairfield 12-year-old team dropped a 2-1 shootout loss to Honeybaked. Darien's Meghan Halloran scored the Stars' goal, assisted by Gillis Frechette, also of Darien. Goalie Caroline Silk of Stamford made 13 saves.

The Stars finished fourth in the National Division and will play the Chicago Young Americans in the semifinals. Chicago went 3-0 in pool play to earn the top seed in the American Division.
