Stamford resident Rosa Koda, 91, died Sunday at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Strylbici, in the Staro-Sambirsky region of Ukraine on Sept. 19, 1919.

Since coming to the United States about 60 years ago, Koda has been a devout member of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral and Stamford’s Ukrainian community.

Koda is survived by her daughter Irene, son in-law Bohdan, and a granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Simon Koda and her brother John Kubycz.

A Panahyda Service for friends and family will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford. Burial will follow at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Hamptonburgh, N.Y.

The family is asking for memorial donations to be made to St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace in Stamford, CT 06902.
