Runners from many area towns competed last October in the Marine Corps Marathon. Wednesday, the race began for runners to grab a spot in this year’s field.

Registration opened Wednesday for the race, which will be run on Oct. 30 in Washington, D.C. According to the results from last year’s race, New Canaan’s Ryan Lynn was one of the event’s top runners, finishing 306th overall in 3:08.04. He was the fourth Connecticut runner to finish. There were 21,948 finishers. Greenwich’s Michael Blumenthal was 330th in 3:10.26 and fifth from Connecticut. There were 261 Connecticut finishers.
