One of Fairfield County's oldest holiday races, the Bunny Boogie three-miler, will roll off the starting line Saturday at 9 a.m. in Pear Tree Point, Darien.

Technically, there will be two start times -- the women will start 2 ½ minutes before the men, giving the faster ones a chance to cross the finish line first, which has happened once in the past five years.

Another feature that makes the race unique is the prizes: chocolate Easter bunnies, which are presented to the top three male and female overall finishers, the top masters (over 40) and the top three in seven age groups.

The USA Track & Field-certified Pear Tree Point course is a fast one, since the start is at the highest point of the area and finishes near sea level at the beach.

Runners can register and pick up their numbers and T-shirts Friday, April 22, at Runner's Roost in Darien, or Saturday, April 23, beginning at 8 a.m. at Pear Tree Point. Online registration is also available until 8 p.m. Friday. Complete information is available at RaceIt.com.
